Joseph N. Simone, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr Joseph N. Simone has been a life long resident of the Kansas City area. He received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1976, and his M.D. from the University of Kansas in 1983. He subsequently completed an internship in Internal Medicine at St. Luke’s Hospital, and a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. During his last year of residency, Dr. Simone earned the position of Chief Resident in ophthalmology. He was honored by being accepted as a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons in 1990 and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Simone has been in private practice in ophthalmology for the last twenty years. He is the current Chairman of the Ophthalmology Section at Shawnee Mission Medical Center, the President & CEO of Heart of America Eye Care, P. A., and the past President of the Kansas City Society of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology. He is a leader in his field and has published multiple articles in distinguished national and international journals.

Dr. Simone specializes in cataract and refractive (LASIK) surgery, and has been at the forefront of introducing new surgical procedures and techniques to our area. He was one of the first ophthalmic surgeons in the Kansas City area to perform no-stitch cataract surgery and LASIK and has been involved in teaching these procedures to other surgeons. He has personally performed over 10,000 eye surgeries and strives to constantly offer the newest innovations in eye surgery to his patients.
