Robert A. Rymer, MD


Dr. Robert (Rob) Rymer was born in Denver, Colorado.  He attended the University of Colorado, in Boulder, where majored in Mathematics, English and Chemistry and subsequently obtained his MD degree from the University of Colorado in Denver.  He completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Wisconsin in 1975.  He has also completed fellowships in Ophthalmic Pathology and Cornea and External Disease,

Dr. Rymer has been in private practice in Ophthalmology in the Shawnee Mission, Kansas area since 1980 and has a long list of achievements.  He was Chairman of Ophthalmology at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in 1983 and 1989.  He was the first surgeon to perform corneal transplant surgery, epikeratophakia surgery, YAG laser capsulotomy surgery and radial keratotomy at Shawnee Mission Hospital.  He also has the distinction of being named by the Squire Magazine as one of the top three Physicians To Whom You Would Send a Member of Your Family on two separate occasions.

Dr. Rymer's current medical interests center on the treatment of Corneal Diseases and Diseases of the Anterior Segment of the eye, as well being involved in the ocular assessment of clinical trials of new medications.

Dr. Rymer is married, with two children and lives in the Shawnee Mission area.  When not practicing medicine his interests include mountain climbing and running marathons.
